The Passing Of Dick Mudgett
It is with deep regret that we inform our members that Dick Mudgett, died March 11, 2025 after a short illness. He was 92. A date for his service has not be set as of this time but plans are that he will be interred at Ft. Rosecrans National Cemetery. For many years
Dick was a regular at our chapter activities since joining in 2014. We will update members when we get details of his service.
USS Bennington Memorial Service
The annual memorial service to honor those that died on the USS Bennington in San Diego Bay on July 21, 1905 was held on Saturday, July 19th at Ft Rosecrans National Cemetery. The event was led by Kathleen Winchester of DAR with DAR, SAR and the Sons of Union Veterans.
July 4th-Coronado Parade

July 4th Weekend Activities

Summer Social – June 28th
The San Diego Chapter held our annual Summer Social at the 94th Aero Squadron which adjoins Montgomery Airport in San Diego. The patio offered a great view of Montgomery Field and the late afternoon start provided excellent weather. The food and service provided by the venue were excellent and most stayed
Compatriot Grave Marking Project-Postponed
Postponed until early 2026 Compatriot Grave Marking is conducted in a similar manner to last year’s highly successful Patriot Grave Marking ceremonies except we are honoring former members. We have identified the final resting place for at least 70 members that have passed. Similar to the Patriot Grave Marking Medal
