141st CASSAR Board of Managers Meeting – November 3 – 5, 2016

The Fall 2016 CASSAR Board of Managers meeting was held at the San Francisco Airport Hilton Hotel on November 3-5.  Compatriots from throughout California attended the meeting.

Wreath Laying Ceremony – November 4, 2016

On Friday, November 4, 2016, the California Society of the Sons of the American Revolution laid a wreath at the grave of Dr. James Lafayette Cogswell at Olivet Memorial Park in Colma, CA. Dr. Cogswell was the founder of the Sons of the Revolutionary Sires which became the sons of the American Revolution.

Casa de España 2016 Columbus Day Lawn Program – October 9, 2016

Casa de España hosted the annual Columbus Day Lawn Program at the International Village in Balboa Park. This year, Compatriot Philip Hinshaw represented the San Diego SAR Chapter at the event and assisted in preparing and serving the food. Flamenco dancers, accompanied by Spanish guitar music, provided the cultural program.

Grossmont Community College Constitution Week Celebration – September 14, 2016

Each year the Grossmont Community College has a week-long celebration of the signing of the U.S. Constitution. Members of the San Diego Chapter Color Guard are invited to be on campus during the lunch time with a flag display at the entrance to the Student Lounge, and to pass out copies of the Constitution. On September 14, 2016 Color Guard Vice-Commander Ernest McCullough and Past President Ray Raser set up the flag display and talked with the staff and students about the Constitution and SAR.

San Diego SAR Trip to Reagan Presidential Library – July 30, 2016

More than 40 members, spouses and guests traveled aboard a luxury motor coach for a full day immersion into the life of one of our most famous Presidents.

Memorial Service at the USS Bennington Monument Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery July 21, 2016

Philip and Mary Hinshaw represented the San Diego SAR Chapter at a memorial service for the 65 sailors that perished as a result of a boiler explosion aboard the USS Bennington (PG-4) in San Diego Bay on July 21, 1905.
