  • Genealogy Day At History Center

SDSAR compatriots (L to R) Alan Winters, Doug Wright and Gary Gauger represented our chapter at a Genealogy Day at the San Diego History center in Balboa Park.  They manned a information table to talk with visitors about SAR and the San Diego Chapter.  Outreach actions such as this often lead to one or more new members.

  • Annual CASSAR Board of Managers Meeting

The annual Board of Managers meeting is for the leadership of CASSAR, NSSAR and our local Chapters to learn of actions affecting us as well as discuss topic of interest.  We also have the opportunity to hear from members that are running for National Society offices. It is also the time when State and National awards are presented to our members.  Ben Hobbins was presented with the Gold Roger Sherman medal for his service to NSSAR.  Carolyn Campbell was awarded the Silver Sarah Fulton medal for her years of supporting our Color Guard and marching with them when needed.  Duncan Campbell was awarded the Silver Meritorious Service medal and Michal Hirman was awarded the Silver Henry Knox medal. We received four Silver American 250 medals for our Chapter which will be presented to members and regular attendees in November and subsequent meetings.  We received the certificate and check for our JROTC winner who placed second in the national judging.  While indirectly related to our Chapter, the State Society voted to donate an additional $1,000 to the First Amphibious Assault Memorial being created in Pompano Beach, Florida.

  • Compatriot Grave Marking-Postponed

This event has been postponed until next year, hopefully in the spring. Join us for a Compatriot Grave Marking day in November. Similar to the Patriot Grave Marking we held last year but this will honor our late Chapter members. We plan to honor 15 compatriots many of which served as President of our Chapter and we will also honor the founder of the San Diego Chapter, Daniel Cleveland. Ceremonies will be held at Ft. Rosecrans, Miramar and Mt. hope cemeteries. For those that participate in all three ceremonies, you will earn the Compatriot Grave Marking medal which is similar to the Patriot Grave Marking Medal. More details will be posted as they become available.

  • Veterans Day and Marine Corp Birthday

There are multiple celebrations for Veterans Day and the 250th anniversary of the founding of the U.S. Marines and U.S. Navy.  Our members are invited to attend any or all of these. 250th Navy and Marine Corps Birthday Celebration & Veterans Day Parade

  • November Chapter Meeting

We will have a Veteran themed meeting this year and will be back to the American Legion post at 7815 Armour St., San Diego, CA. We anticipate another Fire Safety award will be presented as well as Silver American 250 medals and at least one War Service medal.

  • Invitation from DAR to Attend Lunch

From our Friends at the San Diego Chapter of DAR, Our Anniversary is soon! Please join us in celebrating our 115 years of Service at our December 5th meeting. Those of you who are Regents, would you kindly send the invitation to your members again. A few have inquired who missed it when it was sent earlier. We have a lovely social meeting planned and it will be Christmas as well, all decked out in red, with a nod to those daring Daughters from  1910. There will be treats! Laura Bueno will be performing and be accompanied by Marily White, some of you may remember her from the Patriot Marker event at the Green Dragon. We are blessed that they often perform at our December meeting. We will also have many of our original documents on display,  some history of our early years, and a few  presents!
