A Call To Action

May 26, 2026

Compatriots, as you know, SAR runs on the volunteer work of our members.  Unfortunately, that pool of volunteers has grown smaller and smaller recently.  Without an influx of new members wanting to assist with our mission, it’s becoming impossible to carry out our tasks.  We have suffered the unfortunate loss of our Color Guard Commanders.  At the present time, there is no one to lead the guard.  In light of the 250th celebrations, we desperately need a volunteer to take on the work.  If you are worried that you do not have a uniform, please know that we have extra uniforms in storage and if necessary, the chapter will purchase the uniform for you at no expense to you.
But it is not just the Color Guard, we have been without a Frist Vice President, a VP of Membership and a Genealogist for some time now.  I am therefore calling upon the group to step up and volunteer.  I can promise if you do not do then no one will.  Think about your own ancestor when the call to volunteer went out, and they responded by signing up with the Continental Army or the Militia.  We need that spirit of ’76 now.  Please contact me if you can assist us.  If we do not get a volunteer, then we will simply cut or close those programs for which no one wants to volunteer.  For those prospective members, if you are wondering why it takes so long to get your application completed, this is part of the problem that we face.  If no one volunteers to assist, then applications will slow down.  I urge you to take on a task once you have been approved for membership.  Finally, I do not want to tax anyone too much.  Please consider just doing one thing.  That is enough.
