SDSAR Members participated in the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the founding of the U.S. Marine Corp along with the Spirit of Liberty Foundation and the San Diego Air & Space Museum. Activities began with a dinner hosted by the Air & Space Museum and the Sprit of Liberty Foundation in Old Town at the Café Cayote on the evening of the 9th. We were joined by the SAR State Secretary, Chris Cerillo who was in a period Marine uniform.
On Monday the Air & Space Museum was the location for a salute to the Marines and in attendance were a number of members of our Color Guard who rang the massive Liberty Bell supplied by the Spirit of Liberty Foundation. In attendance was a 104 year old WWII veteran that landed on Omaha Beach on D-Day.
Veterans Day
We participated in the San Diego Veterans Day parade along Harbor Drive in downtown San Diego. We were with the Air & Space Museum and the Spirit of Liberty Foundation who provided a truck for the Liberty Bell and some of our members. Our Color Guard marched behind the truck.
