George Washington Birthday Dinner

February 23, 2025

The San Diego Chapter of The Sons of the American Revolution hosted our annual dinner in honor General George Washington 293nd Birthday on 22 February 2025 at the Green Dragon Museum & Tavern in Carlsbad.

The musket team marches into position.

Our Color Guard.

Once again, the musket team was magnificent.

After the musket firing the DAR ladies and HODAR took the opportunity for an outdoor group photo.

Lots of “selfies”, here Peter Fagen, Sarah Fagen, Krita and Tyler Jones along with Andrew Fagen.

The SDSAR Chapter 1st VP, Michael Hirman, give an update on the upcoming Lexington & Concord reenactment in Balboa Park in April.

The keynote speaker was Patrick Martin who brought to life George Washington’s servant, Bille Lee.

Jim McAdory presents Patrick Martin the SAR Certificate of Appreciation.

Darlene Cook is presented the Bronze America 250 medal..

CASSAR Vice President, John Ferris, speaks on the America 250 program and medals with Jim Klinger (seated).

Ashley Hobbins received the Gold America 250 medal from John Ferris.  The photo we have is unusable but we are looking for an acceptable image.

Chapter President presents our Past Sargent-at-Arms, Gary Newton, with the Meritorious Service Certificate and medal.  This is the highest award a Chapter can award to a member.

Jim McAdory present Jenn Halter with the SAR Continental Congress Medal for her leadership in our September program in Balboa Park.  Medals will also be presented to three additional DAR members in the future.

CASSAR President, Don Littlefield, assisted by SDSAR President, Jim McAdory, prepare for the Patriot Grave Marking awards.

The San Diego Chapter present President Littlefield with a declaration of appreciation for his leadership and assistance in the Patriot Grave Marking project.

Those receiving the Patriot Grave Marking award, we think this is the largest number of recipients of this award at a single time in SAR history and likely the largest number of Patriot graves commemorated in a single day.  In all, 41 members earned the PGM in one day.
