The Passing of Compatriot Ernest Shea

January 21, 2025

It is with deep regret that we inform our members that this morning that our Compatriot Ernest Shea passed away in early January.  Ernest and his son, Mike and his Grandsons Trevor and Stuart along with a nephew of Mikes are all proud members of SAR and of our Chapter.

A committal service with Navy honors was conducted on January 28th at 11:15am at Miramar National Cemetery.  Our Color Guard acted as pallbearers for Compatriot Shea.

He retired from the U.S. Navy after 22 years of service including command of a landing craft for the Inchon landing where he became trapped overnight as the craft became stuck on the beach.  After retirement he spent 27 years at the Naval Air Rework Facility at North Island.
