We received notice today that our Oration Contest winner, Daniel Hernandez, is in the top 6 finalist in the National contest. He and his father will be attending our National Congress for the awards dinner and ceremony in July. For our Chapter this is remarkable that we have two youth program contest winners that have advanced and placed at the finals at the National level. I have never found anything is our history documents that indicates that we had a student place in the National competition. Below is this mornings announcement from CASSAR.
Greetings Compatriots,
I am pleased to announce that the California Society contestant Daniel Hernandz has been selected as one of the six finalists for the Sons of the American Revolutions Orations Contest to be held in Lancaster, Pennsylvania in July. Daniel is the San Diego Chapters Oration Contest winner. Let’s all extend our best wishes to Daniel and a hearty Hazzah, Hazzah, Hazzah to the San Diego Chapter!
In patriotism,
Mark Torres

March 2024-We received notification that our Chapter’s Oration Contest winner, Daniel Hernandez from Bonita Vista High School, was selected as the CASSAR Oration Contest winner. Our Compatriot, Ted Parsons, revived this contest from years of obscurity and we had two other entries in addition to Daniel. Congratulations to Daniel.
