On the morning of February 3rd members of our Chapter and the San Diego Chapter of DAR joined forces for the rededication of the SAR-DAR plaque that was jointly funded and replaced the original 1932-3 plaque that was stolen.
We had a nice size crowd of both DAR and SDSAR members as well as many that had attended the Mass just prior to this program starting. Our Color guard began the program by leading the Mission’s priest, Very Reverand Peter McGuine, to the entrance to the area of the new plaque. Kathleen Winchester led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance and
Judith Reale, Vice Chair Historic Preservation Committee, CSSDAR, Honorary Regent San Diego Chapter, NSDAR then provided welcome and dedication remarks. Jim McAdory of SDSAR followed and spoke on the historical significance of the Mission.
The group then moved to the front of the Mission where Reverand McGuine gave the Rededication of Marker Blessing. Afterwards the crowd moved indoors for a reception.
