I met Ernie in the early part of the new millennium and he immediately offered to join our Color Guard. Throughout the years he served perfectly and could always be counted on to relate the weather conditions during operations and missions that helped immensely to achieve success. Sometimes I think Ernie could make the weather change for a positive outcome that especially occurred at his Memorial Service this day at Miramar National Cemetery. It rained profusely driving to the Service with lightning and thunder, then during the service it stopped and was absolutely calm. Hmmmm. That occurred at Jamestown for the SAR National Convention. Ernie’s ancestor was at Jamestown in 1620. His Patriot Ancestor was also at Valley Forge. Whew!!! An unbelievable event to live through!!! For Ernie was a Weatherman in WWII. His knowledge, fortitude and devotion to our Fine Country’s Freedom during that terrible war were unyielding and undoubtedly resulted in Victory for our Country. Ernie Loved to Fire the Firelocks and I always took perfect care of his so he would always be able to ring out a shot for Freedom. In later years after my service, Ernie took over our Superb Color Guard as Commander and led our Boys in fine manor. I always thought that I took care of Ernie but it was actually Ernie that took care of all of us. He had amazing talents and devotion to our Chapter that will continue to resonate through the years. Well deserving of all accolades and awards. I learned much from Ernie and I know he loved all of us. He is still there in the Next Room as Stan had said so eloquently at his service and he is waiting to be with us again. God Bless Ernie and Mary Ann Forever,
Will
