August Meeting

Our former Chapter President, Dr. Robert Fagaly kicked off our meetings for the second half of the year with his presentation on “Comitia Americana: The First Congressional Medals of Honor”. Dr. Fagaly discussed the history and little known facts about the medals of the American Revolution. In addition to his presentation he had on display his collection of these medals with a number being from the original issue.
We also had an America 250 PowerPoint presentation by Jim McAdory on the “Swamp Fox”, Francis Marion.

We were also pleased to welcome the children of our late Compatriot, Carroll Moore. Carroll passed away in 2022, just shy of his 100th birthday. Edwin Moore and Cladine (Moore) Callisone joined us for a remembrance of Carroll by Michael Hirman and Edwin also spoke of his father. Carroll was part of the “Greatest Generation” and served in the China-Burma-India theater during WW2 earning two Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart. He also served as our chapter Treasurer for a number of years.
