A member forwarded an email about what looks to be a scam email coming from SAR. It comes from Todd Bale, National Society… and the email subject is “Data Verification for SAR Members”. After a little research this does appear to be legitimate as there is a page on the SAR.org website regarding this. While this is not a scam it has a similar feel as when you call the number given they go into a sales pitch to get you to purchase $499 book. The pitch indicates that SAR will benefit from the book sales.
SAR is also mailing postcards with a similar message.
You can view the SAR webpage on this at: https://www.sar.org/250Directory
The email content looks similar to the image below.
