April through June are busy months for our Chapter as we get frequent requests for our members to present ROTC and JROTC Awards at local schools. Army-Navy Academy Cadet SGT William Curwen was awarded the Bronze JROTC Medal. He was not present so another cadet accepted the award on his behalf. Presented by Jim McAdory.

Harini Akurathi of the Scripps Ranch High School was presented our Chapter’s Junior ROTC Enhanced award for 2023 by our Sargent-at-Arms, Gary Newton and Treasurer Jim McAdory. She also won the CASSAR state level award and her submission has been forwarded to NSSAR for the national award judging.
There were some 300 people in at the Scripps Ranch High School AFJROTC Banquet on May 25th. Compatriot Gary Newton presented Harini Akurathi with the CASSAR JROTC award, including the $1000 check. She was thrilled. The audience gave her an ovation. Compatriot Newton took the opportunity to speak about the SAR JROTC Outstanding Cadet Program, It was a great evening with guests reporting that Harini’s award was the “hit” of the banquet.
