Wreaths Across America

May 22, 2023

Wreaths Across America Underway

Each December on National Wreaths Across America Day we Remember, Honor and Teach by coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery, as well as at more than 2,500 additional locations in all 50 U.S. states, at sea and abroad.  Our Chapter participates in the ceremonies with our Color Guard and this year we hope to have a Color Guard at both Miramar and Ft. Rosecrans.

Purchasing of Wreaths runs throughout the year, not just in the fall.  Last year our Chapter had the largest number of wreaths purchased by any SAR Chapter in California and we would like to eclipse that level this year!

Join us by donating for a veterans’ wreath to be placed at Miramar or Ft. Rosecrans.  We always welcome volunteers for visiting with local groups to give a brief presentation (we will provide the materials) on the Wreaths program. The deadline to sponsor a wreath(s) is November 28th after so that there is sufficient time for delivery for wreaths laying day on December 16th.  After the deadline you may still purchase wreaths after the deadline but they will most likely purchased for laying the following year.

WAA has a radio channel, Click Here to  listen.

The San Diego Chapter is sponsoring wreaths at Miramar and Ft. Rosecrans National Cemeteries.  For each $15 wreath purchased, the Chapter receives $5 which we use for our ongoing educational and community programs.  Our Chapter coordinator is Kristine Reardon who the daughter of our late SDSAR Compatriot, Lawrence “Larry” Harden.

The funds raised in this program are a major portion of our Chapter’s revenue.  To purchase a wreath that is linked to our Chapter and select the location you want to  support, use the button below.
