After the COVID shutdown the CAR organization is now meeting again and started with their Annual Meeting on May 7th.
Our Chapter’s Color Guard presented the Colors at the meeting and Jim McAdory gave a PowerPoint presentation on SAR’s America 250 program and an America 250 Minute presentation on Francis Marion, also known as the “Swamp Fox”.
CAR would love to have SAR representatives as Senior Mentors as well as take on leadership roles. Below is their message to our members.
As the mission of our Societies is to train good citizens, develop leaders, and promote the love of the United States of America and its heritage among young people; the children are the officers with each office having a senior officer as their mentor.
Offices included are: President, Vice President, Chaplain, Recording Secretary, Corresponding Secretary, Registrar, Treasurer, and Historian.
The Senior President and Vice President must be a member in good standing of the DAR or SAR. The rest are appointed by the Senior President and are often a parent, grandparent, or even an interested party known by the membership. From my own experience, you don’t need to have a child in the Society.
Even if our membership is low in number, we need senior leadership for those offices without a Society member; especially in the areas of treasurer, recording secretary and chaplain; in order to lower the workload on the Senior President. Currently, we have a Senior President, Corresponding Secretary, and Registrar.
We would love to have a SAR member working with our children.
