This year our Chapter’s Color Guard will present the Colors at the annual memorial service at the Bennington Monument located on Fort Rosecrans. The service will be on Saturday, July 23 at 11:30. There will be a short presentation about Ensign Charles Wade and John Barchus followed by the laying of Carnations on the graves of the 35 Bennington sailors buried at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery.
We encourage our members to attend. There are plans for a picnic lunch at Smuggles Cove after the memorial however this is on an active military base and entry is limited. Contact our Color Guard Commander (colorguard@sarsandiego.org), Duncan Campbell, if you would like to attend the lunch.
