The U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps (USNSCC) is a youth program for Americans ages 11 through 17. USNSCC is comprised of two programs. The NSCC program is for young people ages 13 through 17. Also included under the USNSCC umbrella is our junior program the Navy League Cadet Corps (NLCC), for young people ages 11 through 13. They have more than 380 units in 48 states, Guam and Puerto Rico. The Corps provides compelling, life-changing programs that instill the values of teamwork, discipline, camaraderie and service through a passionate all-volunteer force and partnerships with the nation’s armed forces.
The Sea Cadet Medal Ribbon Bar contains the blue, buff and white colors of the NSSAR Rosette which are reminiscent of the colors selected by General George Washington for the Continental Line uniform. The Bronze Good Citizenship medal is struck on a circular planchet. The obverse inscription reads “Good Citizenship Medal” and depicts a Minuteman holding a rifle, with a plow and the Liberty Bell in the background. The reverse is inscribed “Our inspiration is from the past, our duty is in the present, our hope is in the future.” The medal is suspended from a drape of the SAR colors. A certificate of recognition accompanies the medal.
Submissions must be made to SDSAR by February 1.
