March 2017 Monthly Meeting
Photo to the left shows new members Ronald and Steven Crow being sworn in as new members. The photo to the right shows both Robert Hayden and Raymond Raser receiving certificates for additional relatives that supported the American Revolution. These members have multiple patriot ancestors.

February 2017 De Anza DAR Chapter Annual American History Essay Awards event was held at the Church of the Nativity in Fairbanks Ranch on Saturday, February 4, 2007. San Diego SAR Chapter Color Guard members presented the colors. Kathy Loftman, a member of the DAR De Anza Chapter, carried the DAR flag.

141st CASSAR Board of Managers Meeting – November 3 – 5, 2016
The Fall 2016 CASSAR Board of Managers meeting was held at the San Francisco Airport Hilton Hotel on November 3-5. Compatriots from throughout California attended the meeting.

Wreath Laying Ceremony – November 4, 2016
On Friday, November 4, 2016, the California Society of the Sons of the American Revolution laid a wreath at the grave of Dr. James Lafayette Cogswell at Olivet Memorial Park in Colma, CA. Dr. Cogswell was the founder of the Sons of the Revolutionary Sires which became the sons of the American Revolution.

Casa de España 2016 Columbus Day Lawn Program – October 9, 2016
Casa de España hosted the annual Columbus Day Lawn Program at the International Village in Balboa Park. This year, Compatriot Philip Hinshaw represented the San Diego SAR Chapter at the event and assisted in preparing and serving the food. Flamenco dancers, accompanied by Spanish guitar music, provided the cultural program.
Park visitors enjoy a plate of paella (left), San Diego – Alcalá de Henares, Spain Sister Cities Society has Spanish foods for sale (center), José Dosal and his Galician gaita provide music for the luncheon (right).
Grossmont Community College Constitution Week Celebration – September 14, 2016
Each year the Grossmont Community College has a week-long celebration of the signing of the U.S. Constitution. Members of the San Diego Chapter Color Guard are invited to be on campus during the lunch time with a flag display at the entrance to the Student Lounge, and to pass out copies of the Constitution. On September 14, 2016 Color Guard Vice-Commander Ernest McCullough and Past President Ray Raser set up the flag display and talked with the staff and students about the Constitution and SAR.
